Amoxicillin is the most commonly prescribed antibiotic for children in India. It treats bacterial infections of the ear, throat, chest, and urinary tract.

Correct Amoxicillin Dose for Children

**20–40 mg per kg per day** (split into 3 doses every 8 hours)

**Maximum: 90 mg per kg per day** in severe infections

**Maximum single dose: 1000 mg**

Example for a 10 kg Child:

Daily range: 200–400 mg

Per dose (every 8 hours): 67–133 mg

Syrup (250mg/5ml): 1.5–2.5 ml per dose

Always Complete the Course

Even if your child feels better, **complete the full prescribed course** (usually 5–7 days). Stopping early can lead to antibiotic resistance.
